Welcome to my website! I am a reader and writer of middle grade science fiction and fantasy. And I know this question is on your mind, so let’s just get it out of the way right now: It’s pronounced “mi-KE-la.”

I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in English literature with emphases in creative writing, adolescent literature, and folklore, as well as a minor in editing. While completing my undergraduate degree, I was accepted into an application-based novel-writing workshop taught by Brandon Sanderson and was the recipient of the LaVerna S. Clark Creative Writing Scholarship. I also studied in a creative writing workshop under Carol Lynch Williams.

In the past, I’ve enjoyed being an editor for Leading Edge Magazine, BYU Independent Study, and Harvard Business School Online, but writing is my first love. I’ve been writing seriously since 2011.

When I am not reading or writing, I love building blanket forts with my son, playing video games with my husband, and baking.
